Inspired by 's Touhou crossover fanart competition XD Touhou's Shizuha Aki cosplaying as Puella Magi Madoka Magica's Sakura Kyoko. The things in her hair and the one on her dress are supposed to be leaves Entirely made by hand since I still don't own a sewing machine. The dress was a pain with all the details and ruffles, but I'm satisfied with the results. It was much work but I really had fun making this one. Time spend on it: about a week on and off. Materials used: Deer suede, wool felt, cotton thread.
The idea is original and amazing. I'd like to see more cross overs, The stitching is fantastic, the work is neat and not sloppy at all! I enjoy this plush, and if I had money of my own, I'd buy it! Wonderful job, I love the eyes, They remind me of official plush eyes. This reminds me of a real plush, a licensed one you would buy in the stores. Everything is pretty accurate. If I could change anything? It would probably be to have pupils in the eyes. But even still, this is fantastic work!I hope to see more in the upcoming future~
I did not believe this was all hand sewn at first! Your stitching is impeccable! I do not have such a steady hand...or that much patience, lol. Wonderful job, really looks professional.
thank you it took quite a bit of practising but I'm happy I didn't give up (I have verrrrry little patience). I wanted to do embroidering since it looks more durable than painting or iron on ^^
I have a question, how did you do the eyes? I mean the read and black part. I constantly see people with these fat stitches... or is it just an iron on?
it's hand embroidered. The red part is stitching around the yellow, wich is a piece of felt. When doing faces, the outside (the side you see when it's finished) is in deer suede, but on the inside, I add a piece of the same size out of felt to give extra support for the embroidering. I also use a white marker to draw out the eyes before I start. The iris of the eye is a piece of felt (you can use any size you want ofcourse), and the red is where I stitched all around that piece. I usually don't get everything in the first round so I usually stitch around it 2 or 3 times. The black parts is where you really need to use the drawing on the backside and pretty much just fill it up with stitches.
I usually use normal sewing thread for this, rather than embroidery thread, but that's more due to preference. Where I live normal sewing thread also has more colours available wich is also a reason I use that.
It's all done by hand and it does take quite a bit of time to do, but once you get used to it it's not that bad. I hope this explanation was clear enough >.< if I have the time I might make a tutorial about it some time since it's something I've been asked before. I personally don't like the look of iron on, and I'm not good at painting them on, so I tried some experimenting.
Very very impressive piece, especially considering it's all hand stitched! I really can't find a great deal to critique about. I like the ruffles and especially how you did the hair. Perhaps the hands could be better if you just made a thumb and then the four fingers together, although hands like you've done is part of being a plushie, no? See, obviously I can't find much better to complain about. Nice work!
